Of my six grand-kids, Pearl is the youngest. She was born on July 27, 2012, about 16 days early.
By medical standards and doctors evaluations, Pearl should not be here. But praise God, she is. When Ruth went in for her 20 week checkup, Pearl was diagnosed with Holoprosencephaly. If you would like to know more about that, check it out here http://www.carterdatabase.org/hpe/about/. Pearl was diagnosed with the Alobar type.
There is a lot already written about Pearl and her family, so I will not try to do it all over again. Instead I will give you some links to follow:
A blog here on wordpress: http://pearljoybrown.wordpress.com/. On that blog you will see the effort to help them get a much needed van that will hold the whole family safely. That link is here also: A Van for the Browns. Many thanks go out to Suzanne for that blog and the many emails which make up much of that blog. Many of you received those emails along the way. You can follow my son-in-law Eric (Pearls dad) on Twitter for regular updates and pictures of Pearl and their family. The pictures are great! There is an event going on that started today and will go through Friday called Letters to Pearl.
There are three ways to share your Letter to Pearl:
1. Publish your letter on your blog or web site. Link your post to this one via the “Click here to enter” link at the bottom. *Please link directly to the post with your letter in it (not to your blog’s homepage). The link-up will remain open until Friday, Sept 14, at 11:59PM.
2. Publish your letter as a note on Facebook. Post the note on your own Wall/Timeline, then copy/paste the note as a Wall post on the Letters to Pearl event page HERE.
3. Mail your letter to Pearl. Send your handwritten letter or a copy of your published letter to:

There is a girl at their church named Pearl, who wrote our Pearl a letter:
Marybeth Hicks wrote about Pearl in the Washington Times…
I know there are other people who have written, blogged, tweeted, posted on facebook. Thank you to all of you for the love you have shown. Most importantly, thank you to all who have prayed with us for Pearl and her family, her doctors and nurses, and for other families of HPE. God has been hearing our prayers
